This is a Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust Reserve which holds a large number of roosting and breeding Cranes and Marsh
Harriers together with a variety of other species. We should see a wide range and number of species coming into
roost. Start time will be 15:00 and probable end time 17:30 to 18:00. There is an outside chance of seeing Hen
Harrier, Barn Owl and Short-eared Owl, but this is not guaranteed. A leucistic Marsh Harrier roosted last year for a
number of months. The Cranes are currently actively, displaying and mating and are just about ready to start nesting.
Viewing will take place from the car park and there is very little walking required. As this is a roost watch and is quite
open wrap up warm.

Two trips to this area in the same day. You can attend either or both, it is up to you.

We will start with a roadside Goshawk watch at Cockley Cley. Last year this was very productive with good sightings
of Wood Lark and Goshawk as well as Stone Curlew. Then at 12:00 we will move to Lynford Arboretum for lunch and
a search for Hawfinch, Firecrest, Brambling, Siskin etc.  If there are any rare winter visitors in the area we will then
move to search for them.

A trip to one of the local nature reserves which supports a varied array of birds including Snipe, Glossy Ibis, Great
White Egrets and Turtle Doves amongst others.  We could also pick up any earlier summer visitors in the area.
There are a number of separate reserves to visit and the Maxey cut.
