Following a very successful visit last year we are returning to target warblers and other song birds. Woodwalton is one
of the best Warbler sites in the PBC area. We can expect to hear upto 9 species of warbler singing. There are
usually several Grasshopper Warblers reeling. We may also hear booming Bittern, Marsh Harrier and several other
species of songbird.

Anybody with an interest in nature, from beginner to expert, are welcome to join us on our Outdoor Events that are
free. It is a good way to get to know existing members and possibly improve your expertise.

Meet: At 07:00 by the entrance bridge to the reserve. Park alongside the drain adjacent to the reserve.

Birders often shy away from visiting Norfolk in mid-winter,
preferring Spring or the favourable Autumn passage with which the
County is blessed. But they do this at their peril because Winter
can play host to a good variety of avian visitors. This illustrated talk
gives an indication of what be seen during the colder months.

Carl started Wildlife Tours and Education at the beginning of 2008,
initially focussed on tours around Norfolk. As customers returned
they asked if they could be guided around other parts of the UK.
Now he usually does a longer tour every month.

Carl is a qualified ornithologist, has a diploma in photography and
is Norfolk’s county cetacean and pinniped recorder as well as
being involved with several environmental charities. He is also a
trained ecologist specialising in several protected species. He is an
associate tutor with the Field Studies Council (FSC) and teaches on
a variety of wildlife subjects at both the FSC and Norfolk Wildlife
Trust.
