  1. Old Sulehay Outdoor Event

    Date
    Location
    Old Sulehay
A visit to Old Sulehay. A small Wildlife Trusts reserve outside Wansford. Has previously held Turtle Dove, Nightingale and Lesser Spotted Woodpecker. In 2024 both Turtle Dove and Nightingale have been recorded. There is no entrance fees.

Anybody with an interest in nature, from beginner to expert, are welcome to join us on our Outdoor Events that are free. It is a good way to get to know existing members and possibly improve your expertise.

Meet: At 10:00 at Old Sulehay.  As parking in the lay-by near Wansford is limited because of other users, such as dog walkers parking and it can be dangerous to cross, I have arranged for this event only parking to be at the Wildlife Trust’s field station in Ring Haw, w3w ///insurers.fools.pine (what3words). The gate leading down he hard track to the field station will be open from 9.30am (see marker on map below). The entrance gate is located at the right-angle bend on Sulehay Road, w3w///finely.suckle.greet. Turn right at the cross-roads at Yarwell if you are approaching from Wansford or left at the cross-roads if you are approaching from Nassington.
We will walk back up the track to Old Sulehay Woods, walk round the woods and aim to be back at the field station at lunchtime. After lunch, those who want to stay can walk round Ring Haw where Turtle Doves were seen last year and a possible fly-over Ravens.
