Stewart received this email today canceling this Saturday's trip on the Boston Belle due to repairs being required. We will arrange for refunds.

Sorry for the inconvenience

PLEASE NOTE, This is a change of location to Pitsford Reservoir from our original proposal. Please find attached a map of the new location. We will be Ringing on the nature reserve and not Brixworth Country Park. This will make it easier to get to and offer better birding opportunities afterwards.

Be part of the autumn migration and join us for a fascinating bird ringing demonstration at Pitsford Reservoir this September.
Next week on Tuesday  22nd September, we have a bird ringing event which has been especially arranged for us.

As bird ringing is weather dependent, suitable conditions are essential. The mist nets cannot be used in strong winds or rain. The current weather forecast is looking ok but the winds look variable which affects the nets. We have settled on Tuesday with the best conditions for ringing.

This is no more than a half day.Anyone wanting to make it a full day, there is some good birding elsewhere at Pitsford Reservoir where there are hides close by. For those that want to stay , Pitsford offers some good birding with the water and woods. There's been Ospreys, Flycatchers and various waders recently reported along with all the waterfowl .

The morning will be led by Neil Mahon from Naturetrek, accompanied by an experienced team of licensed bird ringers. They will have arrived before the group, so we hope there will
already be birds safely caught in the nets for us to observe on arrival. You will see birds in the hand, hopefully some scarce birds. See all the recording , weighing and measurements that go into ringing. Neil leads wildlife tours across the globe, undertakes conservation surveys, and serves on the committee of the
Northampton Bird Club, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the event.

This is confirmed as Tuesday.
Any queries please contact me . Stewart

Meet: At 8.00am in the car park - if anyone wants to get there earlier please feel free. The ringers will be there from first light. There are no facilities and still a charge for the car park. There is no post code for the car park only the fishing lodge, so when you come to the lodge continue on the road over the causeway- the car park is on the left (yellow cross). We will then walk over the road and follow the path (approx 400m) to the feeding station (purple)

Map for Car Park (Yellow) and short walk to Ringing (Purple)

Post code: Pitsford fishing lodge NN6 9SJ not the location of the event

Steve moved to Norfolk 35 years ago having discovered it in his early birding days. It was the birding that drew him to this wonderful county but, over the years, he came to recognise its amazing biodiversity with its coastline, marshes, river valleys etc. From mammals and bees, moths to flowers the county holds a wealth of species and Steve’s interest broadened and he became a naturalist rather than just a birdwatcher. In his presentation he will look at some of the amazing creatures and plants that call Norfolk home.

Steve, a native of Wolverhampton, has lived in Norfolk since the mid-90’s. He is a lifelong birder and was a member of the West Midlands Bird Club until moving to East Anglia. He is also an accomplished bird artist.
