BTO Cuckoo Tracking Project – What have we learned and where are we heading Indoor Event
DateLocationSt Mark's Church HallBTO Cuckoo Tracking Project – What have we learned and where are we heading
DR CHRIS HEWSON
The BTO Cuckoo Tracking Project has been running since 2011, has revolutionised our understanding of cuckoo migration and has helped make significant advances in our understanding of bird migration between Europe and Africa more generally. This talk will review the rationale behind the project and how it has evolved as new information has come to light, as well as reviewing some of the major findings, particularly those relevant to understanding the population decline of the species in the UK. Finally, it will outline BTO’s plans for the future, describing how it is moving towards trying to understand how best to try to reverse the population declines as the causes are becoming more apparent.. Indoor Events are free to members and we warmly welcome nature loving non-members for a small donation of £2.50 cash on the door.
