Old Briton's Quarry
This site is located on the east side of Britons Lane NR268TP (TG169416) 52.9280 1.2281. This former sand and gravel quarry is being restored to create a new nature reserve but is not currently open to the public.
HABITAT: The moderately sized shallow lake is fringed with developing reed beds and muddy edges. The 60m high old quarry face is slowly revegetating and is home to an active Sand Martin colony. There are common water birds present all year round with the potential for migrant waders in season. The surrounding mixed woodlands are attractive to a variety of regular woodland species.
