Aylsham, Woodgate Nursery
Woodgate Nursery is situated on the outskirts of Aylsham, south of the B1145, one mile west of the Norwich Road roundabout. Perhaps an unlikely birding venue, the nursery is set in 70 acres of unimproved farmland with wet meadows, woodland and overgrown hedgerows. Access is restricted to the public areas of the nursery and the numerous public footpaths which criss-cross the area. There is a bird feeding station near the shop and an excellent cafe. The whole area is of archaeological importance with evidence of a Bronze-age settlement, Roman Villa and Tudor farmstead. Birdlife is representative of rural Norfolk, but close to the centre of the busy and expanding market town of Aylsham.
